Located in Surrey, Hox Park forms part of the phased masterplan for the former Brunel University site and provides 499 studio and ensuite bedrooms for Royal Holloway University within four low density blocks. Avoiding the stereotypes often associated with student housing, the scheme is designed to feel more like a high end residential development, complete with beautifully landscaped courtyards and wild flower planting.
With an entirely precast concrete superstructure and prefabricated bathroom pods, the entire 499 unit scheme was assembled on site by 15 people in just over two months. An ideal canvas for student living, precast concrete offers great acoustic barriers between rooms, is easily maintainable and provides durable interiors.
With the help of the contractor GRAHAM, the team were able to shave a total of ten weeks off the construction process which enabled the project to be completed on budget and in time for the start of the semester in September 2018. The successful delivery of high quality accommodation also helped to maximise letting potential; almost all of the rooms were reserved upon completion.
