ZEDPods, the company behind a new concept in low-carbon modular homes has over 60 units already in planning or pre-application. These include one-bed and two-bed units designed for installation above carparks or hard standing, a key design feature for local authorities and housing associations who want to unlock the potential of land with existing uses maintained. This year they have chosen to exhibit, with Lesko Modular Group, at Housing 2019.
ZEDPods are manufactured in partnership with Lesko Modular Group Ltd. Lesko was chosen because of its knowledge base, skill set, personnel and ability to tool up quickly to deliver a new production line for ZEDPods. Only by working closely together have ZEDPods and Lesko developed a housing product that will meet the quality standards demanded by both housing association and private market clients.
Dr Rehan Khodabuccus, ZED Pod’s Operations Director explains:
“Housing associations like the fact that our Pod homes can be built over existing parking or on land outside the development plan. As we can build a Pod within 10 days and assemble it onsite in 24 hours we are well placed to scale up and deliver rapid, affordable, low energy homes for sale or rent. Since our Pods use quality materials and construction techniques they are as robust as a typical timber frame building. Their durability, covered by BOPAS and a Q Assurance warranty, are key reasons the many of the associations and councils are interested in talking to us.”
Khodabuccus continued:
“By partnering with Lesko Modular Group we know we can deliver a multitude of projects, including carpark schemes and other projects in our portfolio, with the correct accreditation, quality assurance and certainty of supply.”
James Pleszko of Lesko Modular Group said:
“We have invested heavily in our people who come with a wealth of experience and knowledge to build quality off site manufactured homes. Achieving BOPAS, ISO 9001 and Q-Assure warranty accreditations, alongside being appointed to the LHC NH2 framework, is testament to our company’s dedication to quality in the manufacturing process. Our 100,000 sq. ft production facility in Cambridgeshire can produce in excess of 500 units per annum on a single shift.”
