Bodmin’s low carbon site officially launched by Cornwall Council

The latest pioneering low carbon new build homes development, delivered by innovative Cornish developer Treveth, has been officially launched in Bodmin.

The Leader of Cornwall Council Linda Taylor, local Councillor for Bodmin and St Lawrence Jenny Cruse and Cornwall Council’s portfolio holder for Housing and Planning Councillor Olly Monk, joined representatives from Treveth to celebrate the official opening of its new homes scheme, Park Lanneves, off Dunmore Road and Westheath Avenue.

The ceremonial cutting of the ribbon at the special reception was led by Cllr Linda Taylor, Cllr Jenny Cruse and Development Director of Treveth Dominic O’Neill, with key members of the Treveth team, members of Cornwall Council, local agent partners and Treveth’s build partner Triple D Construction in attendance at the reception.  The event gave guests the first opportunity to look around the new show home and learn how these energy-efficient homes are helping to address the housing shortage for local people in Cornwall.

Located on the site of the former St Lawrence’s Hospital on the western side of the town, all 100 homes at Park Lanneves have been designed to meet challenging operational energy saving targets set by the industry for 2030. Measures have been put in place to design the carbon out of these homes which include no fossil fuel heating; using air source heat pumps and solar panels as standard, low energy LED lighting, timber frames from certified sources, Cornish air-cured concrete blocks made with secondary aggregate and more insulation in the floors, walls and roofs.

In addition, early in the site’s construction, Treveth and its build partner Triple D Construction, made a verified saving of 700 tonnes of CO2e, by introducing a redesign that kept 1,300 lorry loads of soil on site.

An allocation of funding for the scheme has been provided by the UK Government through the Levelling Up Fund.

Construction is well underway at Park Lanneves and a show home is now open and available to view.  Treveth has already taken several lettings from local residents for its private rental and shared ownership properties and one of the two available, Cardinham two bedroom open market sales homes is already reserved.

When completed Park Lanneves will deliver 100 new homes with a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes available to those who live, work in or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of the site. There will be 10 open market sale homes, 60 for private rent, 20 affordable rent and 10 shared ownership homes.

Dominic O’Neill, Development Director at Treveth, commented:

“We were pleased to welcome Councillor Linda Taylor and Councillor Jenny Cruse, to launch Park Lanneves. This is  a significant new homes site in Bodmin, which has been specifically created to provide much-needed homes for local people.  With these bespoke modern, distinctively Cornish, homes designed to suit the local climate, we are taking the lead in advancing low carbon design and technologies, tackling fuel poverty and encouraging sustainable living. These homes mark the continuation in Treveth’s ambitions to build between 200-250 energy-efficient, low carbon homes for local people across Cornwall every year.”

Treveth is working with local estate agents Stratton Creber to arrange appointments for house hunters interested in open market homes to view the three bedroom Cambrose show home. Viewings for rental homes will be taken by The Accommodation Bureau at a later date, when new homes will be ready to view.
