Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 105 homes off Castledene Road in Consett.
The development which will be known as Castledene, will see the former 8.26 acre plot of vacant scrub land be transformed into beautiful, high quality, low cost 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached and detached homes.
Houses prices on the development will be attractive due to their affordability and various schemes such as the Government’s Help to Buy: Equity Loan and Gleeson expect these homes to be highly desirable, especially amongst first time buyers and young families in the area.
Construction at Castledene will begin in Spring 2022 and is expected to be fully complete in 2025. The development’s show homes will open during the Autumn of 2022 with the first new homes released for sale in Summer 2022. The first residents will be expected to move into their new homes in later 2022.
Gleeson will make several significant contributions to enrich the local community, including £170,485 towards open space, £50,715 towards health, 11 discount market sales units on site and £11,000 towards biodiversity enhancements. As part of their enhancements to local ecology Gleeson will be providing some central open green space.
In addition to this, an eco-friendly and sustainable drainage area will be provided in order to attract an abundance of wildlife.
Construction at Gleeson’s nearby Greencroft View development in Annfield Plain, is currently underway, with 86 homes set to be built, giving the area much-needed, affordable homes for young first time buyers.
Ed Alder, Operations Director at Gleeson said:
“We are delighted to be bringing 105 fantastic new homes to Consett, an area where we are seeing great success with our homes.
We are pleased to be championing the area, supporting the community with our affordable homes and employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors. Our Section 106 donations will help fund health care in the area and we will be boosting biodiversity and open space with our plans. With our homes, we are determined to ensure that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes.”
