The final steel beam at 270 Park Avenue was raised to complete the framing for JPMorgan Chase’s 1,388-ft, state-of-the-art global headquarters. Norman Foster, founder and executive chairman, Foster + Partners was at the event alongside JPMorgan Chase Chairman & CEO Jamie Dimon, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and local officials, held to thank the construction workforce on the project.
Norman Foster said:
“In 1811, when this site was countryside, the city commissioners created a masterplan for New York. It was bold, innovative, and reflected an optimism for the future. Today, over two hundred years later, the same things are true of 270 Park Avenue. The building is a great investment in the city, the bank, and the wellbeing of the 14,000 people who will occupy it. It does more with less – more public space, fresh air, light and views – and less carbon through electric, green energy. We are very proud to be here, with the team of builders and bankers, celebrating this significant milestone in the construction process.
To see the final beam being set in its place today is a symbolic moment, when you truly appreciate the scale of the project and JPMorgan’s ambition. It has been incredible to be a part of the team – working in lockstep with engineers, fabricators, other contractors and the construction workers – all working tirelessly to bring our collective vision to life.”
Jamie Dimon added:

The new building will redefine the modern workplace with flexible design focused on sustainability, health and wellness.
With a state-of-the-art design by Foster + Partners, the 60-story skyscraper will be New York City’s largest all-electric tower with net zero operational emissions and exceptional indoor air quality that exceeds the highest standards in sustainability, health and wellness. It will help define the modern workplace with 21st century infrastructure, smart technology and 2.5 million square feet of flexible and collaborative space that can easily adapt to the future of work.
The building will offer 2.5 times more outdoor space on the ground level of Park and Madison Avenues, featuring wider sidewalks and a large public plaza on Madison Avenue with natural green space and other amenities geared towards the residents, workers and visitors who frequent the neighborhood on a daily basis.
