Lee Rowley has been appointed as Housing Minister, returning to the post he previously held between September 2022 and October 2022 during Liz Truss’s short lived term as Prime Minister. Rowley replaces Rachel Maclean, marking the 16th time that the position has been filled since the Conservatives returned to power in 2010.
He will remain in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) – where he was Minister for Local Government and Building Safety until the reshuffle – working under the Housing Secretary Michael Gove.
North East Derbyshire MP Lee Rowley previously held the position as Housing Minister for just six weeks before being replaced by Lucy Frazer. Maclean revealed on social media on Monday that she had been “asked to step down” as Housing Minister. Maclean was appointed to the role in February, replacing Frazer.
